After relocating to San Francisco, a woman by the name of Tessa rented a home that was, in fact, built in the previous century.
She could not figure out why there was a peculiar mechanism on the wall when she reached the 2nd floor by way of the stairs.
So she made the decision to take it down and test it on herself.
The house’s front door miraculously opened at that point.
On her Twitter page, she even shared a video of this amazing 20th-century invention:
It appears that creativity was a trait of the sluggish in the past.

These levers were put between the 1880s and 1930s, and it appears out that they are pretty typical.
